The sport is actually a very fun and rewarding activity, having numerous health benefits. Golf is a surprisingly accessible sport, if you just give it a try. This article will ease you into the game.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure that you properly protect your skin while on the course. This is important because often times you will be out there for multiple hours without any shade. Getting a sun burn can do anything from cause minor discomfort, to ruining a vacation, to even more serious issues such as skin cancer.

A smart piece of golf advice is to pass on renting a cart, and instead walk the course. This will give you more exercise on the course and that is a great way to be in better shape. It can be very beneficial to your health. By walking, you’ll also keep your body limber and your muscles warmed up.

It is helpful to know that some days your game will be great, and other days it will be terrible. This is inevitable, and if you let yourself be bothered by a bad golf day, then you might not be motivated to practice and continue playing the sport.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to not steal balls from the driving range and use them on the course. There is a multitude of reasons why this is wrong, but mainly they are easy to spot and it is considered an action of extremely poor taste.

To avoid a slice, try to swing at the ball from the inside-out. This will keep the ball from moving outside and away in a drifting arc, outside the path of most fairways. Slices also take away from your drive distance and accuracy, and should be avoided. One tactic for avoiding the slice is to keep your left arm straight until impact.

If you desire to improve in golf, you need to make sure that you’re standing while having the right position. The position that you are in usually dictates how far the golf ball will travel. If you want the ball to travel a decent distance, you need to find the balance between bending over and standing up straight. Both slouching and standing too tall can negatively impact your ability to hit the ball.

One common problem in golf putting is following the ball with your eyes after hitting it, which often causes the shoulders and hips to follow as well and make harder contact than was intended. Try practicing by placing the ball on top of a dime and watching the dime after the put.

If controlling and judging distance in your putts is a problem in your golfing, try this easy practice to get the hang of it. Try taking a golf ball in your hand and rolling it to the hole, taking note of the amount of energy it takes to get it just right. Then try using that information with a golf club.

When attempting to make a long putt, or any putt for that matter, look at the hole instead of the ball. When you focus on the hole your brain automatically calculates distance for you. When you focus on the ball, your brain does not have the ability to determine the distance from the ball to the hole.

Wear a high SPF sunscreen while playing golf and reapply it as necessary. An average round of golf takes approximately four hours to play through. On an open course, in full sun, the potential for sunburn is very high. Not only can this cause long term damage to the skin, it causes a lot of short term discomfort.

The basic principle of golf is really rather simple, and its many benefits to mind and body are unique. Now that you’ve read the above advice, enjoy getting out there and starting to golf!
