Golf can be a great sport to enter into, no matter how much knowledge or skill you have associated with the sport. Don’t be fooled by the PGA Tournaments that you see on T.V. There is more to golf than competition. Read through these tips to see the fun that can be had with this sport.

Do not chew gum while on the golf course. Not only does this look childish, but if anybody finds discarded gum on the course or clubhouse, you may be the first one to receive blame. This rule may vary greatly depending on the course you choose.

A helpful tip when it comes to golf is to make sure you understand which area you should tee off from. There are different color coded tees depending on your skill set and choosing the wrong one may lead to either personal embarrassment or an unexpected difficulty on the course.

Make sure to keep your hands low during all of your follow-throughs. Doing this will allow you to lower the ball flight. This will also help the trajectory of every shot you take to be lower, and allow you to have better control over where you want the ball to go.

When you swing a golf club, put your whole body into it. Your entire body–not just the arms–should be viewed as a major source of power. Your body should be fully involved in moving the club. This will help you to get the ball further, possibly without having to swing your arms so hard.

If you have to hit an uphill sand shot you should put the ball forward in your stance. Make a long fluid swing parallel to the slope. By playing the ball forward, you lower the trajectory of the ball and help ensure the ball will carry far enough onto the green to make your putt.

Whenever you can team up with strong golfers, do so! This way, you can learn by observation. You can benefit in many ways from strong players. Do not assume that you can only learn from a professional player; anyone you usually play with could teach you something. All that’s required is watching a good player as they play. Learn from their presence, such as how they handle themselves, the directions of their visual focus, the art of their swing, and how they carry this from hole to hole.

Stretch before playing and stay hydrated. Giving proper attention to your body will help you make improvements in your golf game.

When getting ready for a shot, make sure that your keeping your chin and head up. Let your arms hang naturally, maintain minimal knee bend and bend your elbows slightly inward. These tips will help you find the stance that is the best for you and the alignment to make the best shot.

When swinging the golf club, watch your left knee. Does it collapse toward the right knee? This is a common beginner mistake that affects balance. Try imagining your left knee going toward the target on the back swing. If you have trouble with that, imagine holding a basketball between your legs while you swing.

The muscles from your legs to your fingertips will all be used in a successful shot. Swing your body like a whip when you swing and get power from your lower body.

As was previously stated, golf can be a great sport for anyone to get into. It takes a little knowledge to learn the basics so that you can start playing correctly, but you don’t have to become the next Tiger Woods if you don’t want to. Just keep those tips in mind and enjoy yourself!
